About our Podcast

It started with a phone call. On a raw winter’s day during the pandemic, I was talking with staff at the C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago where I’m a professional affiliate. We wondered if people might benefit from conversations about Carl Jung’s ideas during that difficult time. Thus, the idea for Jung in the World was born.

In the wider world, we also saw a convergence happening. Great thinkers from a range of disciplines—philosophy, literature, neuroscience, computer science, anthropology, history—were addressing the state of the collective to shed new light on with Jung’s theories. We began inviting some of them to join us at the microphone: Richard Tarnas, Elizabeth Lesser, Mark Nepo, Maria Tatar, Meghan O’Gieblyn, Lewis Hyde and many more. We also interviewed Jungian analysts about social issues including James Hollis and Murray Stein.

We learned as we went. In 2021, we forged a partnership with the University of Chicago to recruit and train summer interns. Their passion and brilliance helped us over many hurdles.

Our aim is to bring the work of Carl Jung into contemporary life. We hope it makes a difference in yours.
